Some Basic and Well Known Cocktails

  Note:- 1 centilitre (c l) = 10 millilitres or 0.35 fluid ounces

 

After Supper
2 (c l) Apricot Brandy
2 (c l) Cointreau or Triple Sec
2 (c l) Lemon juice
Shake with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Champagne Cocktail
Angostura
Cube of sugar
Dry sparkling Wine or Champagne
Soak the sugar well with Angostura. Put the cube into a Champagne glass and top up with sparkling Wine.

Copenheering
1 (c l) Gin
3 (c l) Cherry Brandy
Shake with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Daiquiri
4 (c l) White Rum
2 (c l) Lime or Lemon juice
1 (c l) Sugar syrup
Shake with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Ferrari
4 (c l) White Vermouth
2 (c l) Amaretto di Saronno
Stir with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Americano
2 (c l) Campari
2 (c l) Red ermouth
Soda as required
Pour into an old-fashioned/lowball glass, add a few cubes of ice and soda to taste. Garnish with a slice of lemon.

Godfather
3 (c l) Bourbon
1 (c l) Amaretto di Saronno
Pour into an old-fashioned/lowball glass and add a few cubes of ice. Garnish with a slice of orange.

Old-Fashioned
4 (c l) Bourbon
Dash of Angostura
Cube of sugar
1 (c l) Soda
Put the Angostura, sugar and soda into an old-fashioned glass. Let the Angostura soak well into the sugar, then crush the cube with a spoon. Add the bourbon and a few cubes of ice. Garnish with a slice of orange, a slice of lemon, and a cherry. Serve with a spoon.

Rusty Nail
4 (c l) Scotch Whisky
2 (c l) Drambuie
Pour into an old-fashioned/lowball glass and add a few cubes of ice.
Gimlet
3 (c l) gin
2 (c l) Rose's Lime Juice Cordial
1 (c l) Lemon juice
Shake with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Italian Stinger
4 (c l) Brandy
2 (c l) Galliano
Shake with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass.

Manhattan
4 (c l) Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
2 (c l) Red Vermouth
Dash of Angostura
Stir with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.
Rob Roy
4 (c l) Scotch Whisky
2 (c l) Red Vermouth
Dash of Angostura
Stir with a few cubes of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cherry.

Singapore Gin Sling

4 (c l) Gin
2 (c l) Cherry Brandy
2 (c l) Lemon juice
Soda to top up
Pour into a highball/collins glass, add lots of ice, and top up with soda. Garnish with a slice of orange, a slice of lemon, and a cherry. Serve with a straw.
Whiskey Buck
3 (c l) Bourbon or Rye Whiskey
1 (c l) Lemon juice
Ginger ale to top up
Pour into a highball/collins glass, add lots of ice, and top up with ginger ale. Garnish with a slice of lemon. Serve with a straw.

Tom Collins

4 (c l) Gin
2 (c l) Lemon juice
1 (c l) Sugar syrup
Soda to top up
Pour into a collins glass, add lots of ice, and top up with soda. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a cherry. Serve with a straw.
Apricot Cooler
3 (c l) Apricot Brandy
3 (c l) Lemon juice
1/2 (c l) Grenadine syrup
Soda to top up
Pour into a highball/collins glass, add lots of ice, and top up with soda. Garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry. Serve with a straw.

California
1 (c l) Rye Whiskey
2 (c l) Apricot Brandy
3 (c l) Orange juice
Ginger ale to top up
Pour into a highball/collins glass, add lots of ice, and top up with ginger ale. Garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry. Serve with a straw.
